Suspended members from the INDIA bloc alliance slammed the ruling BJP-led Centre, terming their suspension as the ‘ultimate failure’ of the government and ‘anarchy’ inside the Parliament. They claimed that the ruling government is aiming at an ‘Opposition-mukt Lok Sabha (LS).

Forty-nine LS MPs, including NC leader Farooq Abdullah, Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Karti Chidambaram and NCP Supriya Sule were suspended for disrupting House proceedings today. With this, a total of 141 MPs have now been suspended in this Winter session of the Parliament – 95 from Lok Sabha and 46 from Rajya Sabha.

Speaking about the suspension of more than 40 MPs from LS, including his own, MP Shashi Tharoor said it is clear that they want an Opposition-mukt Lok Sabha and they will do something similar in Rajya Sabha. He said that the basic principle of Parliamentary Democracy has been violated by Home Minister Amit Shah by not coming to the house and discussing the issue of the security breach and talk about it, something he has been doing outside to the media. While, National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah criticised Amit Shah for not discussing the issue of security breach and said, ‘Who does the Police come under? What could've happened if he had come to the Parliament and made a statement on the incident?’.

Reacting to her suspension for the remainder of the winter session of Parliament, Samajwadi Party LS MP Dimple Yadav said that this is ultimately the failure of the government. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said it is nothing but anarchy inside the Parliament. BJP do not have an iota of faith in Parliamentary Democracy.

The winter session will conclude on December 22.
