Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ram Gopal Yadav today said that the Congress and his Akhilesh Yadav-led party have finalized the seat-sharing agreement in Uttar Pradesh. He said that SP will soon declare more candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha (LS) elections.

Meanwhile, SP leader Dimple Yadav said that there should be no further delay in deciding the candidate for the LS elections and stressed that the upcoming elections would be about ‘saving the Constitution’. She also said. ‘Election is fought at the grassroots level. If candidates are decided in time, they will get time to put up a strong fight against the BJP’. Asked about the possibility of BSP joining the alliance in Uttar Pradesh, she said, ‘It will be decided by the top leadership.’

Samajwadi Party on Tuesday announced its first list of 16 candidates for the upcoming LS elections. Sitting MP Dimple Yadav has been fielded from Mainpuri, while party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barke will contest from Sambhal seat. BSP chief Mayawati had announced in January that her party would contest the LS elections alone. But she did not rule out a post-poll alliance.
