Cash-strapped Maytas Infra has started off-loading stakes in road projects to stay afloat. These include the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar highway project, Cyberabad Expressway and Hyderabad Expressway projects, among others. The company will offload its 30% stake in the Rs 600-crore Meerut-Muzaffarnagar highway project to two city based firms — Gayatri Projects and Nagarjuna Construction Company. The equity component for the project is Rs 140 crore. A 30% equity stake in the project would translate into Rs 42 crore. Both Gayatri Projects and NCC are already stake-holders in the special purpose vehicle floated for this highway project.
Maytas Infra, initially contributed around Rs 23 crore. But the firm could not infuse more funds to match its stake. Gayatri Projects has hence raised its stake in the project from 40% to 49% and NCC from 31% to 51%. “We are waiting for approvals from the National Highways Authority of India for the stake-sale (by Maytas Infra) and the process should end by September. Maytas is also looking at selling stakes in the Cyberabad Expressway and Hyderabad Express way projects. Currently Maytas Infra and Gayatri Project have 50% stake each in these projects. crackcrackCompany Name | CMP |
