The Delhi High Court (HC) will be hearing the bail plea of DMK MP Kanimozhi, arrested and jailed in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. She has been behind bars at Tihar Jail for more than two weeks now. She was arrested on May 20 after her earlier bail plea was dismissed by the special CBI court. The court had rejected Kanimozhi's bail citing the enormity of the 2G scam and the fact that witnesses might be influenced incase she was on bail.

Kanimozhi, the daughter of DMK chief Karunanidhi has been named a co-conspirator in the CBI charge-sheet in the 2G case. The DMK MP has been charged with receiving kickbacks worth Rs 214 crore and conspiring with former telecom minister A Raja.

As per the charge-sheet, the money had been routed to the Kalaignar TV channel from DB Realty of Shahid Usman Balwa, who was one of the beneficiaries of the 2G spectrum allocation scam, with his another firm, Swan Telecom, securing the 2G spectrum license during the tenure of former telecom minister A Raja.
