Early monsoon arrival skids Oilseeds, Soyoil prices

31 May 2011 Evaluate

After monsoon rains hit the country's mainland ahead of schedule, prices of oilseeds and soyoil futures have started falling raising hopes of better summer-sown oilseed crop. As per weather officials, India's annual monsoon rains have hit the southern state of Kerala couple of days earlier than expected, boosting prospects for a harvest that could spur Asia's third-largest economy.

With an early arrival of monsoon rains many farmers will get an opportunity to sow soybean ahead of normal schedule which may also affect on yields positively. The prices of soyoil had risen significantly last week with market witnessed correction and due to arrival of monsoon earlier the prices will tend to remain under pressure.
