Ahead of the Assembly election, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will visit poll-bound Meghalaya on February 24.

In Meghalaya, PM Modi will address a rally in Tura on February 24. The same day, he will also hold a roadshow as a part of an election campaign in Shillong, where the BJP hopes to secure large vote shares. This will be his first visit to Meghalaya this year. BJP sources said that meeting with state BJP leaders is also in the schedule.

BJP President J.P. Nadda yesterday released the party's election manifesto for Meghalaya in the state capital Shillong. The manifesto promises implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in Meghalaya and the timely disbursal of salaries of government employees and many other promises in favour of the state. Speaking at the unveiling of the party's poll pledges, Nadda said the potential of the Northeast state, which is rich in culture and tradition, hasn't been suitably harnessed and utilised to date. He said there is a lot to be done in the state as there is plenty of scope for development. Elaborating on the manifesto titled 'eMpowered Meghalaya', he said the 'M' in its name signifies ‘Modi for Meghalaya’.

PM will also visit Nagaland and hold a mega rally there ahead of polls. Assembly elections will be held in both the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27 and the results will be announced on March 2.
