The Delhi BJP and Congress today staged protest demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP minister Satyendar Jain, arrested in different corruption cases, resigned from the Delhi cabinet.
The BJP protested at over 10 locations in Delhi, including the ITO Chowk and demanded that the Delhi CM should resign. Several Congress leaders and workers, led by their state unit president Anil Chaudhary, also gathered near the AAP's office and raised slogans against AAP leaders. The party said a fair probe would not be possible as long as Arvind Kejriwal remains in power.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday, in connection with alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22, Satyendar Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in May last year in a money laundering case. AAP leaders Sisodia and Jain, both of whom resigned from the Delhi cabinet, were considered key faces of the government. The two ministers tendered their resignations yesterday amid corruption allegations, with the AAP saying they had become victims of the BJP's ‘politics of arrogance’.
