‘BJP an ever-ready party, will get absolute majority’: Karnataka CM after poll dates announcement

After the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced election dates of Karnataka, Chief Minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai today said that the party is ready for the polls and expressed confidence that the party would come back to power.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru after the announcement of the poll dates, Bommai said the BJP will return to power on the basis of the work it has done for the public. He said that BJP is an ever-ready party with a strong organisation right from booth level to national level. The party has done a lot of Abhiyan (campaigns) where the response of the people was tremendous. The double-engine government has done a tremendous amount of work in terms of infrastructure, farmers, women and OBCs. He further said that the government has succeeded in answering all the allegations made by the Opposition. The CM also added that the frequent visits by PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda has helped the party in the state. When asked about defections from the party, Bommai said that no BJP leader will join Congress. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the BJP is ready for the elections. Meanwhile, Congress also exuded confidence that the party will win the polls.

CEC Rajiv Kumar has announced schedule of the Karnataka Assembly election today. The day of polling for Karnataka Assembly elections will be  May 10, in the single phase and the results will be declared on May 13, 2023.
