Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal today announced that he will travel across the country to gain support for the Delhi government's fight against the Centre over an ordinance on the control of administrative services in the national capital.
Arvind Kejriwal accused the Centre of ‘taking away the rights’ of the people of Delhi and said that the ordinance ‘should not’ be allowed to pass in Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, Kejriwal is scheduled to meet Trinamul Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee today. He is also expected to meet Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on May 24 and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar on May 25. The AAP has announced that it will hold a ‘maha rally’ at Ramlila Maidan here on June 11 against the ‘black ordinance’. Yesterday, Congress also said that it has not taken any decision on the issue of ordinance brought against the SC judgement and added that it will consult its state units and other like-minded parties on the same.
This comes after the Union government on Friday promulgated an ordinance to create a National Capital Civil Service Authority for transfer of and disciplinary proceedings against IAS and DANICS cadre officers. The ordinance essentially overturned a Supreme Court order last week which gave the control of services, excluding those related to police, public order and land, to the elected government in Delhi.
