Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Eknath Shinde today said that the Shiv Sena and Bhartiya Janata Party will jointly contest all future elections, including civic polls.

The announcement was made following Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis’ meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday night. Shinde, in a tweet said that during the meeting, it was decided that all future elections (including the Lok Sabha, Assembly and civic bodies) will be contested jointly by the Shiv Sena and BJP. CM further said issues related to agriculture and cooperation were discussed with Shah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been guided for various projects and several pending projects in the state have been streamlined now and they are on way to completion, he added.

Eknath Shinde along with 39 other MLAs revolted against the Shiv Sena (then undivided) leadership in June last year. The revolt led to a split in the Shiv Sena and collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Shinde later joined hands the BJP and became the CM.
