Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today chaired a meeting with the leaders of Delhi to review its preparedness for the Lok Sabha (LS) elections. Apart from Kharge, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal, former Union minister Ajay Maken, Delhi unit chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar, in-charge Deepak Bawaria, Alka Lamba, J.P. Agarwal and several others were present in the meeting.

The party discussed ways to strengthen the organisation and focused on the poll preparedness for the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections next year. Party sources said the meeting had paved the way for several key appointments in the Delhi unit of the party which have ‘been pending for long’. The meeting came in the wake of Congress supporting AAP in the Rajya Sabha on the Delhi Services Bill, which was passed by Parliament during the recently concluded Monsoon Session and President Droupadi Murmu later giving nod to it.

Kharge termed the meeting a consultation. He said ‘revitalisation of Delhi Congress is our priority, in which participation of all leaders and workers is necessary. We had made Delhi prosperous and happy, our struggle for the people of Delhi continues even further’. Earlier, Congress held several key strategy meetings with leaders of various states including Haryana, Maharashtra.
