He further asked why BJP-ruled states, such as Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat have not implemented the NEP. Why are they targeting only Karnataka? He said the NEP should be called the ‘Nagpur Education Policy’. Citing the success of Karnataka's education system, Deputy CM said that the education system of Karnataka is a model for the country. This is the reason why Bengaluru is the IT hub it is today. Due to our good education system, many people of the state are in good positions in foreign countries.

Earlier, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that the National Education Policy (NEP) will be abolished from the next academic year. He stated that the decision was taken after considering the opposition from students, parents, lecturers, and teachers. Earlier in July this year, Madhu Bangarappa, Karnataka’s primary education minister, had said that the state education department has decided not to adopt the National Education Policy (NEP) but will instead implement the State Education Policy (SEP).
