Congress Parliamentary Party (CCP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary strategy group at 5 pm tomorrow to discuss the plan for the Parliament's special session.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also has called a meeting of Members of Parliament (MPs) of newly established Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to discuss the joint strategy for the session. Both the meetings will be held for discussing the strategy for the Special Session and the points to be raised during the proceedings. The Opposition bloc is working jointly and planning to present a unified front against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by PM Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on various fronts as well as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, the Centre has constituted an eight-member committee with former president Ram Nath Kovind as its head to examine and make recommendations for holding simultaneous elections in India, a day after it announced a special session of the Parliament. Union government had announced a session of both Houses of Parliament from September 18 to 22 without Question Hour or private members' business. However, the agenda for the special session was not disclosed yet. The announcement of the Special Session came as a surprise in political circles with the parties gearing up for assembly polls in five states later this year.
