Congress leader Jairam Ramesh today said the BJP would take a one-sided decision if opposition parties boycotted the special session of Parliament.
He said that the Opposition will attend the Special Session of Parliament, adding that ‘important issues should be discussed in Parliament, and we will put them forward’. His statement came when leaders of opposition parties demanded to know the motive behind calling a special session of Parliament. Yesterday, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding discussion and debate on several issues including Manipur violence, economic condition of the country, MSP and other demands of farmers.
Reacting to Sonia Gandhi's letter, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, ‘You are politicising the work of our Parliament, and when there is no controversy, you are unnecessarily raking it up’. Responding to the Congress leader's claim that the agenda of the special session was not shared, Pralhad Joshi said, ‘Never before, even when there were other governments at the Centre, the agenda was not circulated in advance.’ ‘Unnecessarily, they (Congress) are politicising the issue, and that is really unfortunate.’ Meanwhile, other leaders of the opposition group have also raised similar concerns.
