Veteran BJP leader and former chief minister (CM) of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the party's central leadership will decide on the BJP's alliance with the JD(S) for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Talking to media persons about the alliance between BJP-JD(S) alliance Yediyurappa said, ‘Delhi leaders, Amit Shah (Union Home Minister) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide on it. I don't have any special information on it so far’. He further said that he is going to Delhi tomorrow to participate in the BJP election committee meeting (as a member of the central election committee) adding that the political situation in the state will be discussed in the meeting.
Another former CM Basavaraja Bommai said that the next talks will be held at the Delhi level and the leaders of both the parties will decide after considering all the pros and cons. Yeddyurappa, who is also a BJP parliamentary board member had last week said that his party would tie up with the JD(S) for the Lok Sabha elections and that the regional party will contest four LS seats in Karnataka. However, he said that the discussion about this has not yet reached the final stage, and Modi and Shah, who are busy with other responsibilities, can discuss and decide on this in a couple of days. JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has said that discussions about the BJP and his party contesting the LS elections together are still at an early stage.
