As Rajasthan heads into Assembly polls in a few months, Congress leader Sachin Pilot today said that the party will fight the assembly elections ‘unitedly’ and the decision on who will lead the next government will be decided by the high command after consultations with the newly elected MLAs.

Ahead of the Congress Working Committee meeting in Hyderabad, Pilot said that the Congress has fulfilled all the election promises made in the 2018 Rajasthan elections and the state government and the party are working together. He also exuded confidence that as a result of this unity, the Congress will defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in this election. When asked about the CM face of the party, he said '(Mallikarjun) Kharge ji, Rahul (Gandhi) ji and Sonia ji are our leaders and our Congress government is in Rajasthan. So, we have to unite and work effectively to win the election. If we get a majority then the legislators and the party leadership decide who will lead the government’. He said that the party did not have a chief minister face in the last Assembly polls also and Rahul Gandhi, who was then the Congress national president, had decided the chief minister after the elections.

Pilot claimed that the BJP is in ‘tatters’ in the state and is facing various kinds of ‘contradictions’ within its organisation. He alleged that 'BJP did not play the role of the ruling party in the center and disappointed people. Also, they failed to play the role of an opposition in Rajasthan. He also stressed that the Congress will win the elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
