Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar today said that the Election Commission is fully committed to conduct free, fair, transparent and inducement-free elections.
A 17-member team led by CEC is in city to review the poll preparedness in Telangana. As part of that, Rajiv Kumar held meetings with various stakeholders like political parties, state and central government officials and enforcement agencies. Speaking to media about the activities of the team in the last three days in Telangana, CEC said Money power, freebies distribution would be on our special radar. For this, very loud and clear message was given to enforcement agencies to take strict actions against the use of money power during elections. If they do not take action then we will make them take action against those who use election money power. He added that banks have been asked to keep an eye on online money transactions in this regard.
Rajiv Kumar said that during the interaction with political parties, they requested the Election Commission to ensure that elections in Telangana are inducement-free. He said that the total number of voters in Telangana is 3.17 crore in which the number of male and female voters is equal.
