Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar today met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi at Kharge's residence in Delhi to discuss plans for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.), an alliance of opposition parties.
The last time Sharad Pawar met Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi was during the meeting of the opposition alliance held in Mumbai on 31 August and 1 September. The three leaders today discussed the current political situation and the road ahead for the alliance, which is looking to take on the BJP in the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections. They also discussed the plans for the next meeting of the INDIA bloc, which is likely to be held soon. NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad and Gurdeep Sapal, INC CWC Member were also present for the meeting.
The discussion between the three leaders on Friday took place at a time when a joint public meeting of the opposition alliance in Bhopal in October has been cancelled. Sources said that the joint meeting could not be held after Congress leader Kamal Nath protested against the statements of DMK leaders including Udhayanidhi Stalin against ‘Sanatan Dharma’.
