Bhajan Lal Sharma takes oath as Rajasthan's CM

Bhajan Lal Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today took oath as the new Chief Minister (CM) of Rajasthan. 

Governor Kalraj Mishra was administered the oath of office to him during a ceremony at the Ramnivas Bagh in Jaipur. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and CMs of BJP-ruled states. Former CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot also attended the ceremony. A large gathering of BJP MLAs and workers from across the state witnessed it.

Along with Sharma, Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa were sworn in as the Deputy Chief Ministers of Rajasthan. First-time MLA Bhajan Lal Sharma, took charge of the State on the day he turned 57. He won the elections from the Sanganer assembly seat with an impressive margin of over 48,000 votes. The BJP on December 12 picked Bhajan Lal Sharma as Rajasthan's new CM, ending days of speculation that followed its victory in the assembly polls.

The BJP won 115 seats in the November 25 assembly elections while the Congress got 69 seats. Polling was held on 199 of the 200 assembly seats in the state.
