Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to impose one history, one nation and one language on the people of India and this is what the Congress is protecting.
Addressing a public meeting in Kannur district of Kerala today, Rahul Gandhi asked how can anyone come to Kerala or Tamil Nadu and say that there will be one language there. Rahul said that BJP was creating disharmony in the nation and, in turn, harming millions of people in the country. He said the BJP was attempting to change the diversity of the country, whereas the Congress accepts the differences.
Former Congress chief said that first of all this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what India is. How can you come to the people of Kerala, Tamil Nadu or West Bengal and say that there will be one language. You are insulting every citizen of Kerala. Malayalam is not just an ordinary language, within it lies the history, tragedy and happiness of the people of Kerala. He stressed that this is what Congress is protecting.
Further, Rahul Gandhi put up a bouquet of flowers and said that this is what India looks like. He said every colour is unique, and every flower has a different expression. Imagine if I said that there would be only white flowers here. There will be no leaves. This is what BJP and RSS are trying to do in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and India. This shows that they do not understand India.
The Lok Sabha elections in Kerala will be held on April 26 and the results will be declared on June 4.
