Ahead of the forthcoming bye-election in Kerala, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that he cannot imagine a better representative for the Wayanad parliamentary constituency than his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will file her nomination from Wayanad parliamentary constituency on Wednesday and party parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and other leaders will be present on the occasion of her nomination. Before filing the nomination at 12 noon, Rahul and Vadra will lead a roadshow starting from Kalpetta New Bus Stand.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘The people of Wayanad hold a special place in my heart, and I can't imagine a better representative for them than my sister, Priyanka Gandhi’. Mr Gandhi also exuded confidence of Vadra’s win from the said seat, and said she would be a powerful voice in the Parliament. He added, ‘Join us tomorrow, October 23, when she files her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. Let us together ensure that Wayanad continues to be represented with love.’

Vadra, who has been the Congress general secretary for a few years now, will make her electoral debut from the Wayanad seat, a constituency earlier represented by Rahul Gandhi. In June, a few days after the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had announced that Rahul Gandhi would retain the Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and vacate the Wayanad seat in Kerala. Later, he resigned as a member from the Wayanad seat.

The polling for the Wayanad parliamentary constituency will take place on 13th November and the last date of filing nominations is 25th October. Counting of votes will take place on 23rd November.
