Congress candidate for Wayanad Lok Sabha by-elections Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has intensified her campaign for the Lok Sabha seat.
Addressing the people during the election campaign, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her gratitude towards Wayanad’s people for standing by her brother Rahul Gandhi through challenging times, particularly when he faced campaigns targeting his character. She said, ‘You, the people of Wayanad have shown the country the way. A massive campaign was unleashed against my brother to tarnish his reputation. Lots of money and resources were poured into that campaign. There was a time when everybody was turning their back on him and it was at that time that all of you loved him, voted for him and supported him’. She emphasized the constituency's early recognition of Rahul Gandhi's struggles before the world acknowledged them.
Congress general secretary also pledged to address local issues and promises to raise concerns of the people of Wayanad, if elected to power. This election seeks to fill the vacancy left by Rahul Gandhi after his election to Raebareli. Wayanad will go to the polls on November 13 along with voting for bye-elections in 47 assembly seats across 15 states.
