Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) chief Sharad Pawar said that the opposition bloc Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will kick off its campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections on November 6.

Speaking to reporters in Pune, Sharad Pawar said that the election campaign of the opposition alliance will begin in the presence of him, Rahul Gandhi and Uddhav Thackeray. Pawar said that the MVA will present a program (common minimum program) to the people of the state to gain their support. When asked about the friendly contests among Maha Vikas Aghadi partners – NCP (SP), Congress, and Sena (UBT) – in certain constituencies, Pawar mentioned that there are only about 10-12 seats where two MVA candidates have filed nominations. He added, ‘I am confident that we will find a solution in the next few days and solve the problem.’

Elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23. Congress is contesting 103 seats in MVA, followed by Sena (UBT) with 89 candidates and NCP (SP) with 87. Other MVA allies are contesting six seats, while three constituencies remain undecided.
