BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to take charge as Maharashtra Chief Minister for a third term after the BJP core committee approved his name for the post. The grand oath ceremony will take at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on December 05, 2024.
At the core committee meeting, top BJP leadership gave approval to Fadnavis’s candidature for the CM post, and the 132 party MLAs unanimously elected him as the leader of the Maharashtra Assembly during the state legislative party meeting. Devendra Fadnavis called on Governor CP Radhakrishnan with Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar and staked claim to form the government. Two deputy chief ministers will also take oath along with Fadnavis.
Addressing a press conference after meeting the Governor, Mr Fadnavis said he was honoured to be named the leader of the legislature party and said he wouldn't be here without the support of the BJP's 132 MLAs. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and said the BJP's 'double engine' government will bring about development in Maharashtra. He said the Mahayuti's victory was due to the Prime Minister's 'ek hain to safe hain' slogan. The development comes nearly two weeks after the Mahayuti received a massive mandate (230 out of 288 seats) in the Assembly polls.
