Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the government was not allowing the Lok Sabha (LS) to function as part of a strategy because it was afraid of discussing the Adani issue.
Talking to reporters after the adjournment of House for the day, Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘Either the government does not want to run the House or they are not capable of running the House. Our protest is from 10:30 to 11 and then we go inside the House for work but work is not happening’. She added, ‘As soon as we sit they start something to get the House adjourned. I think It is their strategy, they do not want a discussion’.
Congress general secretary claimed that the government is scared of discussing the Adani issue as they know that all issues will be out in the open. She also stressed that it was important to raise the Adani issue in light of the allegations made in the US.
Priyanka Gandhi further said that the ruling party was accusing the Congress leadership of having links with George Soros to divert attention from the main issue related to business conglomerate Adani. Her remarks came after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress and its leadership of colluding with US billionaire George Soros and anti-India forces.
Both the Houses of parliament saw adjournments with the BJP stepping up its attack on Congress over alleged links to George Soros and the Opposition members alleging that the treasury benches do not want the House to function. Several Opposition MPs protested in the Parliament premises over the Adani issue. They carried black bags featuring a picture of PM Narendra Modi and businessman Gautam Adani on one side, with the slogan ‘Modi Adani Bhai Bhai’ written on other side.
