Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the only solution to the Ambedkar controversy is that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should be dismissed and apologise to the nation over his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha.
Addressing a press conference, Jairam Ramesh said that for the past seven days, the Congress has been observing 'Ambedkar Samman' week during which more than 100 press conferences have been held at various places. The Congress leader said that this is in response to the insult of Ambedkar by the Home Minister on December 17. Meetings are being held in all the districts today and a document is being prepared to be submitted to the President. Meanwhile, the Congress party is holding nationwide protests against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on BR Ambedkar in Parliament today.
The remarks made by Shah led to parallel protests outside Parliament last week by both the ruling and opposition parties. This led to a massive scuffle between the two sides with two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput sustaining injuries. Both parties have alleged that their party members had been pushed around. Moreover, Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Rahul Gandhi in connection with the incident.
