CPI inflation for August declines further to 9.52%

Adding further confidence to the government and RBI’s initiatives, the provisional annual inflation rate based on all India general Consumer Price Index (CPI) (Combined) for August 2013 on point to point basis (August 2013 over August 2012) has came lower at 9.52%, as compared to 9.64% (final) for the previous month of July 2013.

The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for August 2013 stood at 8.93% and 10.32% respectively, compared to 9.14% and 10.18% respectively in July.

It’s the second consecutive month that the CPI inflation has declined, in July it declined to 9.64% from 9.87% of the previous month. However, once again the decline was not uniform across the country and the food and beverages witnessed rise of over 10 percent in both rural and urban areas.
