Suzlon Wind Energy Corp, the North American subsidiary of Suzlon Energy - the world’s fifth largest wind turbine manufacturer - has bagged a new order for 15S97-2.1 MW wind turbines at an Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada wind power project in development by Sprott Power Corp.

The project is slated for completion in March 2012, and the company would be delivering the project under Engineering, Procurement, construction (EPC) turnkey contract. With total installations of 31.5MW, the project of full capacity will produce enough energy to power more than 11,000 Canadian homes.

The S9X-2.1 MW turbine is an evolution of the company’s proven technology platform and every aspect of the turbine features enhanced design to deliver a higher return on investment for the customer. Further, Suzlon group reinforces its presence in Canada after securing 300MW in order through Reliance Power in January this year.

Moreover, pursuant to a 10 year warranty, maintenance and service agreement, the company will provide operation and maintaining service for the Amherst project. The S97 turbines at Amherst will be installed on 90 meter hub height. The S97 turbines have variable tower height of 90 to 100 meters, leading to low cost optimizations and higher power generations.
