Infosys eyeing European acquisitions

10 Dec 2010 Evaluate

Infosys wants to grow its European presence organically, but is open to considering acquisitions. The acquisition will deal with the front end, with areas like consulting or package implementation. Infrastructure is also an important area.In context of a geographic perspective; it could be the UK, Germany or France, because these are the three big markets. It also depends on the size of the company.

Europe in many ways is definitely coming out of the recession, but it is still a slow process. Germany and France, which are the largest markets, have historically run their IT services as a part of their corporation, but in the recent past, they are also opening up to the idea of looking at outsourcing. One of the reasons why India has made good inroads into the UK and the US could be because these mature markets speak English. There are also cultural differences between the US and Europe.

From 2004 to 2008, the European operations outgrew US because the company had a CAGR of 55 percent. The recession has brought the percentage down, but in real time, the revenues were growing.
