Kalpataru close to Buying Bayer’s Thane Land for 1,400 Crore

10 Mar 2011 Evaluate

The sale of Bayer Cropscience’s 108-acre land parcel in Thane is finally reaching a conclusion with realty developer Kalpataru close to acquiring the plot for close to 1,400 crore. Kalpataru had revised its bid from the earlier figure of around 1,300 crore which was the second highest for the plot behind DB Realty’s 1,540-crore bid. However, DB Realty withdrew its bid in February.

With the revised bid, Kalpataru is now expected to pay the entire bid amount in a staggered manner over eighteen months from the date of signing the agreement. The liquidity scenario has been tightening since the last few quarters and has resulted in almost no major land transaction. The agrochemicals major had set reserve price of 1,000 crore for the plot that was used so far for manufacturing crop protection technology.
