Hindustan Unilever (HUL), in an effort to fight against the shrinking margins has hiked the retail prices of select variants of Lux and Lifebuoy soap bars by 5.55%. The price of the 120-gm Lifebuoy red bar soap pack has been raised by a rupee to Rs 19 while the price of the 90-gm packs of the Lux Almond and Lux Strawberry soap bars has been raised by a rupee to Rs 19.
Earlier in November, the company had hiked the retail prices of premium bathing soaps by 2.6-5.5%. The price of 90 gm pink and white Lux soap had been raised by Rs 1 to Rs 19 while the prices of 45 gm and 75 gm packs of Dove soap have also been hiked by Rs 1 to Rs 19 and Rs 39 respectively.
The company’s net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 registered growth of 21.69% at Rs 688.92 crore as compared to Rs 566.12 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s total income has increased by 17.48% at Rs 5688.15 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 4841.49 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year.
