Ashok Leyland Ltd has outlined plans to launch 15 more models on its new versatile U-Truck platform within 12-18 months, with first batch in December. As the trucks based on U-truck platform have received good response, the company has launched 10 models so far and expects to rollout 15 more models in three phases. Next set of models will be introduced in December.

The 10 models launched yesterday in AP span capacity of 16-49 tonnes and priced in the range of Rs 16.6 lakh to about Rs 32 lakh. They will soon be launched across the country over the next few weeks. As AP accounts for about 11 per cent of the company's business, it was launched there.

Its venture with Nissan will launch light commercial vehicles from the Tamil Nadu plant in the first quarter next year. The other venture with John Deere for construction equipment will also begin production in the first quarter next year.
