Tata Motors global sales up by 11 percent in May

Tata Motors global sales in May increased by 11 percent to 88,251 units driven mainly by commercial vehicles and Land Rover. Sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 22,296 units during May, up 17 percent from the same month last year.

The sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand declined by 18 percent last month to 4,221 units while Land Rover sales grew 30 percent at 18,075 units. The total passenger vehicles sales stood at 44,181 units in May 2011, a growth of 2 percent from the same month last year. Commercial vehicles sales were up by 20 percent to 44,070 units from the same month last year.

The Tata Motors Group's global sales comprises’ Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles, along with the distributed brands in India, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Recently, Tata Motors received an order from Surat-based Siddhivinayak Logistics (SVLL) worth an estimated Rs 150 crore to supply 1,111 medium and heavy trucks in a year.
