Bank of India launches UID enrolment project

Bank of India (BOI) has launched an UID (unique identification number) enrolment project. The UID initiative is called AADHAR and the bank is first to issue AADHAR based ATM cards and will be rolling out the project in three phases.

In the first phase, bank employees and their family members will be enrolled which would be followed by enrolling customers in the second phase and in the final phase the bank plans to acquire customers through the UID enrolments.

The Group has posted an increase of 42% in its net profit of Rs 2542.42 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 1787.16 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010. Its total income has increased from Rs 20596.91 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010 to Rs 24500.25 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011.
