Balaji Telefilms rises on entering into binding business transfer agreements

Balaji Telefilms is currently trading at Rs. 34.20, up by 0.70 points or 2.09% from its previous closing of Rs. 33.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 34.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 34.65 and Rs. 34.00 respectively.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 42.95 on 31-Dec-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs. 26.70 on 22-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 34.65 and Rs. 31.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 223.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 41.17% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 3.35% and 55.47% respectively.

Balaji Telefilms has entered into binding business transfer agreements on December 29, 2011 to sell the media education and the mobile content production business for a consolidated consideration of Rs 8.37 crore. The transaction would be effective on receipt of the full consideration within a period not exceeding 90 days. However, the internet business will be retained by the company.

Further, the above transaction is in accordance with the approval given by the board in its meeting dated January 14, 2011 and subsequently approved by the shareholders by postal ballot on February 18, 2011.

Balaji Telefilms is a leading content provider in the television segment. It started operations in 1995-96 with serials like Mano Ya Na Mano and Hum Paanch. Currently it is the producer of several leading serials on major channels like Star Plus, 9X, Sony TV, Zee TV and SUN TV network, etc.
