Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs. 182.30, up by 3.05 points or 1.70% from its previous closing of Rs. 179.25 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 181.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 183.70 and Rs. 180.50 respectively. So far 7,01,000 shares were traded on the counter.
The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 266.86 on 03-Jan-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 137.65 on 13-Sep-2011.
Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 188.50 and Rs. 178.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 49,065.00 crore.
The promoters holding in the company stood at 35.05% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 37.31% and 9.16% respectively.
Recently, Tata Motors has called back 1,40,000 Nano cars to replace the starter motor free of cost, the biggest-ever replacement exercise in Indian automobile history. The exercise to replace the starter motor - an electrical component - in the world’s cheapest car is expected to cost the company around Rs 115 crore.
The company started the exercise in October and has already replaced the starter motor in about 50,000 Nano units.
On November 21 this year, Tata Motors introduced an upgraded Nano with a more powerful engine, better fuel efficiency and new features giving it a facelift. However, the price tag was left untouched as part of the marketing strategy to boost sales.
Tata Nano was launched in 2009 amid media hype and had shot into global fame as the world's cheapest car. This was Ratan Tata's dream project, and he virtually staked his own reputation on its success. There had been an overwhelming response from customers after the launch.
