Crop protection products-maker Rallis India has introduced a new insecticide for the control of sucking pests in paddy. This is the third new product to be launched this fiscal by the Tata group company. The product, named Hunk, also has phytotonic qualities that enhance overall crop health, besides combating pests.
Moreover, the company has three more products in the pipeline for this year. Of these, two would be in the insecticide segment and the third in the fungicide space. The new products will be a mix of technologies sourced from overseas and those developed in-house.
The company is quickening the pace of its new launches as El Nino fears recede and the monsoons appear to be back on track, paving the way for a pick-up in farm activities and resulting in increased sales of crop protection products.
The company’s net profit for the quarter jumped over two fold at Rs 13.08 crore as compared to Rs 5.99 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2013. Its total income from operations increased by 8.11% to Rs 292.12 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 270.19 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
