Ashok Leyland advances on unveiling India’s first 37-tonne haulage truck

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 23.50, up by 0.05 points or 0.21% from its previous closing of Rs. 23.45 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 23.25 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 23.70 and Rs. 23.00 respectively. So far 311826 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 31.43 on 13-Jan-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 20.05 on 22-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 24.45 and Rs. 22.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 6212.68 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 31.58% and 16.38% respectively.

Ashok Leyland - second largest commercial vehicle maker, has introduced India’s first 37-tonne haulage truck with the highest payload of up to 27 tonnes. The U-3723 H is built on the contemporary and future-ready U-Truck platform which assures superior performance, durability and operational efficiency. The truck is best-suited for applications like construction, ready mix concrete, boom pumps and stone marble.

The U-3723 H has five axles - twin steerable front axles, two rear axles and a self-steerable pusher lift axle at the middle that enables the vehicle to carry more loads. The U-3723 H has H series engine which produces 225PS and is mated to a 9-speed gearbox.

Recently, the Hinduja Group flagship company had reported an increase of 20% in its December 2011 sales to 9088 units as against 7568 units in a year ago period.
