Maruti to hike production to 1.1 lakh units/month, September vehicle sales may rise 32-33%

Maruti Suzuki India will ramp up production by about 10 per cent to nearly 1.1 lakh units per month from October, taking its annual output to 13 lakh units in 2011-12. The company expects to notch up its highest-ever monthly sales in September, with a growth of 32-33 per cent compared to the same month last year. In the entire 2010-11 fiscal, it aims to sell 12 lakh units.

The company produced around 84,000 cars during the corresponding period last year and the increase would be about 25,000. On sales figures, MSI’s growth till last month was about 27 per cent. This month, it will be something between 32-33 per cent.

At present, MSI, which is 54.2 per cent owned by Suzuki, has an annual capacity of 8.5 lakh units at its Gurgaon plant, while its Manesar unit can produce 3.5 lakh units annually, with the overall capacity totalling 12 lakh units per year.
