Mahindra plans to roll out new models in Lanka

The $7.1-billion Mahindra Group has revealed its plans to launch new models to augment its presence in the Sri Lanka automobile market. In keeping with long-term plans, it is going to launch several new products, including the Maxximo, a technologically modern sub-1 tonne pick-up, and HCVs (heavy commercial vehicles) in Lanka. The launch of compact truck Gio in Sri Lankan market has evoked a good response.

The company is also studying the possibility of introducing an electric car, the Mahindra Reva, in Sri Lanka in future. The company has already established a base in the country where it has been selling its range of tractors and utility vehicles for over a decade. Its automotive sector has sold over 4,000 vehicles in Sri Lanka since its entry.
