Tata Steel gains on inking MoU for sale of Long Products Europe business

Tata Steel is currently trading at Rs. 463.50, up by 7.35 points or 1.61% from its previous closing of Rs. 456.15 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 461.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 468.00 and Rs. 460.00 respectively. So far 1,37,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 578.60 on 09-Jun-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 301.10 on 15-Oct-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 468.60 and Rs. 441.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 44,010.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.35% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 43.35% and 23.51% respectively.

Tata Steel has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Klesch Group to undertake detailed due diligence and negotiations for the potential sale of its Long Products Europe business and associated distribution activities.

The memorandum covers several UK-based assets including Tata Steel’s Scunthorpe steelworks, mills in Teesside, Dalzell and Clydebridge in Scotland, an engineering workshop in Workington and a rail consultancy in York, as well as other operations in France and Germany. About 6,500 people are employed at Long Products Europe and its distribution facilities. Tata Steel employs 30,500 people across Europe, including 17,500 in the UK.
