23 Jan 2012 Evaluate

Union Bank of India has launched its e-focal point branch at Delhi for handling government business. The bank has launched the branch on January 05, 2012. The launch of the branch is in keeping with the major initiative of the government to introduce e-payment facility system in civil ministries and departments.

The introduction of e-payment requires an e-focal point branch by banks handling various accounts of accredited ministries. The e-focal point branch would support all e-payments including verification of digital signature and support seamless integration of the same with the accounts of the government in the core banking system.

The introduction of e-focal point branch will also provide a single point contact for all government ministries to avail of electronic banking services like remittances through NEFT, RTGS and bulk upload of payments for various payment requirements.

The bank is also closely working with the government in implementation of Central Plan Scheme Monitoring System (CPSMS) and has integrated various accounts of programme implementation to interface with the MIS system of the government to monitor flow of funds.
