KEC International, a billion dollar global infrastructure EPC major has bagged two orders worth Rs 371 crore for the construction of transmission lines in India. The company has secured order from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) worth Rs 258 crore for the supply and construction of 400 kV double circuit transmission line from Bhachau, Kuch distric to Essar thermal power station in the state of Gujarat. The total length of the line is 260 kms and the contractual completion time is 26 months.
The company has bagged another order from Haldia Energy, Subsidairy of CESC for the supply and construction of 400 kV double circuit river crossing transmission line from Haldia thermal power plant to Shubham Gram, crossing the Ganga river at Kolkata. The contractual completion time for the project is 18 months.
KEC International is mainly into the business of design, manufacture and erection of transmission towers and power transmission lines on EPC basis. Besides, the company has now broadened its activities by diversifying into the distribution and substation sector (through rural electrification projects), railway electrification projects as well as providing services like optical fibre installations, Satellite/GPRS surveys and turnkey telecom infrastructure services.
