Tata Motors' global sales up 50% in May

Riding on rising interest in Jaguar and Land Rover in China and Russia, and a robust demand for trucks and cars, Tata Motors globally sold 79,819 vehicles in May, a 50 per cent growth over that sold in May 2009. Tata Motors Group's global sales comprise sales of Tata Motors in India, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover and sales of distributed brands. Its global sales were 52 per cent up so far this fiscal, at 157,548 units.

Jaguar Land Rover sales grew 72 per cent to 19,053 vehicles. Jaguar sales were up 34 per cent at 5,120 while Land Rover sales almost doubled to 13,933. So far this fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover sales grew 66 per cent to 36,962 units. The company's sales of commercial vehicles grew 45 per cent to 36,689 units . The company sold 71,159 units of commercial vehicles so far this year, a 42 per cent growth. Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales, including those distributed (mainly those of Fiat in India), were 24,077 units, a 42 per cent jump.
