Larsen and Toubro has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,450 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for six-laning 148.30 km of the Krishnagiri-Walajahpet Highway (NH 46) in Tamil Nadu. The project will be executed on design, build, finance and operate basis with a concession period of 30 years.

 

L&T has signed a concession agreement with NHAI and is entitled to collect toll during the concession period, including the construction period. The work is scheduled for completion in 30 months. As part of Phase-V of the National Highways Development Programme, NHAI is widening the existing four-lane stretches of the ‘Golden Quadrilateral' to six.

 

This corridor forms the main and preferred road connectivity between Chennai and Bangalore and serves both commercial and passenger movement between the two cities. The company has 14 projects in its build, operate and transfer roads portfolio of which seven are operational, five in the construction phase and two in the development mode, totalling 5,500 km with an investment of Rs 13,000 crore.
