Reliance Power's 2,400-MW gas based power project to go on stream anytime soon

Reliance Power's 2,400-MW gas based power project is expected to go on stream anytime soon. General Electric, the equipment supplier for the plant, has so far supplied six gas turbines and three steam turbines for the plant. Further, the company now has deployed a large number of engineers and technical staff for testing and commissioning the project.

The equipment supplier -GE India- which has signed a 15-year contractual service agreement with Reliance with performance guarantees, will play a crucial role in supporting the country's power generation projects and in bridging the demand-supply gap. GE has deployed equipment and personnel at more than 700 sites.

The company posted a surge of 205.79% in its net profit to Rs 106.69 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 34.89 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has increased by 91.13% to Rs 193.25 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 101.11 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010.
