VA Tech Wabag, a leading Indian MNC along with JV partner, Belhasa Projects, has won an EPC order in the water and waste water treatment space in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) order for Al Madina Al Shamaliya, the new town being developed in Bahrain, is for a value of over Rs 580 crore. This is the first EPC order for Wabag in Bahrain. The company is currently active in Bahrain through its subsidiary incorporated last year for doing the O&M business.
The project is funded by Abu Dhabi Fund for Economic Development (ADFD). Wabag will Design & Build the 40MLD Al Madina Al Shamaliya Sewage Treatment Plant for Ministry of Housing, Bahrain.
Al Madina Al Shamaliya (AMAS) is a new town on reclaimed land off the north coast of the Kingdom of Bahrain. With a total land area of approximately 750ha over 13 islands, AMAS shall be developed for Housing, Recreational, and Business activity purposes which will provide approximately 15,000 dwelling units. The STP plant with tertiary filtration and sludge treatment using aerobic digestion and thermal drying will cater to the entire irrigation water requirements for all the 13 islands.
