Sterlite Industries (India) trades higher on the bourses

Sterlite Industries (India) is currently trading at Rs. 118.25, up by 3.25 points or 2.85% from its previous closing of Rs. 115.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 116.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 120.90 and Rs. 116.00 respectively. So far 33, 91,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 189.50 on 25-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 86.10 on 19-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 135.50 and Rs. 112.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 39,740 crore.

The Company’s net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 has declined by 10.13% at Rs 284.32 crore as compared to Rs 316.38 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year. Company’s Total Income has increased by 4.59% to Rs 4584.47 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 from Rs 4383.46 crore for the December quarter of the previous Fiscal.

On consolidated basis, Group’s net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 has declined by 17.03% at Rs 913.52 crore as compared to Rs 1101.06 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010. Its total income has increased by 23.65% at Rs 10303.67 crore for the quarter from Rs 8332.45 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year.
