M&M has acquired majority stake in two Australian companies, Aerostaff
Mahindra will hold 75.1 per cent in each of these Aussie companies, which in turn will have a stock option of 20-25 per cent in Mahindra Aerospace Private Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra Engineering Services and part of the Systec sector, and would deal in aerospace business of the Mahindra Group. The company hinted at taking full control of the two Aussie companies and merging them in the coming years. Mahindra will retain the existing management of the two Australian companies.

The company is looking at revenues anywhere around Rs 650 crore in the next five years from this vertical and is looking at selling at least 20-25 aircraft per year and expects to have 475 aircraft flying in air by 2014. It will be looking at building two to 20-seater aircraft. It also has plans to get into third party maintenance, repair and overhaul activities of aircraft. An investment of $10 million (Rs 1 crore) will be made in the plant.
