Rcom rises on bagging Rs 300 crore Aadhaar contract

Reliance Communication (RCom) is currently trading at Rs. 98.45, up by 1.80 points or 1.86% from its previous closing of Rs. 96.65 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 97.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 98.70 and Rs. 96.15 respectively. So far 9,50,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 113.85 on 05-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 61.00 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 99.75 and Rs. 91.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 20,320.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 67.86% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 17.25% and 14.51% respectively.

Reliance Communication, India's largest integrated telecom service provider, in a consortium led by IT firm HCL Infosystems, has bagged contract worth about Rs 300 crore for government’s national identity card programme, Aadhaar.

The unique identification project, Aadhar, was initially conceived by the Planning Commission as initiative to provide identification for each resident across the country and use it as a basis for efficient delivery of welfare services.

The UID number is also envisaged to act as a tool for effective monitoring of various programmes and schemes of the government.
